Mound Park in Dallas Center

Mound Park is situated in the west part of Dallas Center, between Walnut Street and Sycamore Street, with its west end bordering Kellogg Ave.

Designated as a park on the original town plat and used as sleeping quarters for the workers who built Dallas Center's first paved streets, this beautiful park has hosted decades of community and family events, providing shaded recreation for old and young alike.

Complemented by meticulously maintained trees and lawn, the park boasts a merry-go-round, slides, swings and other playground fun, a gazebo, tennis court, skating rink, two sand volleyball courts, basketball court, picnic shelters and grills, benches, drinking fountains, and restrooms.

During the summer, city volunteers man the skate rink concession stand for supervised "Skate Nights" on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. The stand offers skate rentals and refreshments, and the stand attendants supervise fun skate games like limbo contests.

The gazebo may be reserved for a fee of $25.00 by calling City Hall at 992-3725.

The picnic shelters and other park facilities are available during open hours on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservations or fees.
