Community Christmas Store

Annual Events: Takes place during the Hometown Christmas Celebration

*Due to COVID-19, the Boy Scout Troop 116 Committee has canceled this event for the 2020 Season.*

What started as a small idea by Kathy Olson (former owner of Olson Hardware) has now grown into something that Dallas Center kids look forward to each Christmas.

Throughout the year Boy Scout Troop 116 collects slightly used treasures from members of the Dallas Center community. In December, they are displayed at the Community Christmas Store in the American Legion Hall for purchase as gifts for families during Christmas time.

Each item or group of items for Dads, Moms, Brothers, Sisters, Grandpa and Grandma, etc. are sold for $0.25.

This helps teach the youth the real spirit of giving, with pride in knowing that they have picked out something special and paid for it themselves.

The Scouts will wrap the gifts to be taken home and placed under the Christmas Tree.

We are not sure whether the residents of Dallas Center or the Boy Scouts have the most fun with this event.

Can you help us with a donation?

Any new or used items for men, women and children are gratefully accepted. Funds raised during the shopping event are split 50/50 with a community non-profit and to purchase wrapping paper and other supplies for the next Christmas season.

If anyone has a donation for the Community Christmas Store, please call Lisa Howell at 314-9129 (cell) or 992-3728 (work).
