Pet owners are responsible for preventing their pets from being nuisances.

Pet Behavior

It is unlawful for the owner of a dog to allow or permit such dog to cause serious annoyance or disturbance to any person or persons by frequent and habitual howling, yelping, barking, or otherwise; or, by running after or chasing persons, bicycles, automobiles or other vehicles. These annoyances/disturbances are offenses and you can be issued a citation.

Pet Excrement

Owners of animals shall remove excrement deposited by such animals on public property or on the private property of others.

Pets at Large

It is unlawful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large within the corporate limits of Dallas Center.

Registered animals found at large are subject to a municipal infraction of $100.00 1st offense, $200.00 2nd offense, $400.00 3rd offense, and $625.00 for repeat offenses. Unregistered animals and registered animals found at large on more than three (3) occasions shall be seized and impounded. If an animal is registered but does not have the tag on, it is considered unregistered. Impounding costs are $200.00.

If your pet was picked up while running loose and was not wearing a city pet license, you are required to pay the impound fee and obtain a receipt at City Hall before proceeding to the Aheinz57.
