Spurgeon Manor is a busy and happening place!!
- Join Spurgeon Manor in the RCF area on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., for a delightful community event! They are hosting a bake sale and indoor yard sale, brimming with delicious treats and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Proceeds from the event will be directed to our county food banks, helping those in need within our community. They look forward to seeing you all there!
- Join Spurgeon Manor for an open house Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. to showcase the newly built townhomes. The address is 1001 Faith Place, Dallas Center, located on our campus 1204 Linden Street, watch for the signs.
Earth Day is Monday April 22, 2024.
Let Us Celebrate Arbor Day too! The City of Dallas Center is partnering with the Brenton Arboretum to celebrate Arbor Day Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Mound Park, next to the Gazebo. From 9:00 am to 11:00 am the fantastic Tree Board will be on site to give free trees and shrub seedlings to Dallas Center area residents while supplies last. Refer to the Dallas Center April Newsletter for the varieties and quantities being given away.
April 27, 2024, Raccoon River Valley Trail 35th Anniversary Bike Ride. This year's bike ride coincides with National Celebrate Trails Day, so it is a terrific opportunity for anyone to "tour" through the serene beauty of the paved trails.
Another busy and impressive group- The Dallas Center American Legion and Auxiliary!
- Poppy Day distribution will start on May 18, 2024, and continue until Memorial Day. The poppies that are distributed in Dallas Center were made by a veteran at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. The Dallas Center American Legion Auxiliary share in the amount of donations, and local funds are used for veterans and their families only.
- On Monday, May 27, 2024, The Dallas Center American Legion and Auxiliary will be hosting the Memorial Day service. It is held in Mound Park at 10:00 a.m.. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the event. In case of inclement weather, it will be at the Middle School Gymnasium. Please plan to attend.
Our Fabulous Roller Skate Managers, Darla MacConnell and Nicole Waller are getting ready for Friday, May 31, 2024, as opening night for the 2024 outdoor roller-skating rink season!! Yah Hoo! Watch future communications for more details. We are excited to see everyone at Mound Park!

Mosquito Control of Iowa will be providing coverage to the City of Dallas Center for your comfort and safety throughout the 2024 season. WE STILL NEED MORE LIFEGUARDS!!!…… for the 2024 season at the NEW Dallas Center Community Pool. $12.50/hr. Must be 15 years of age. American Red Cross certification for Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR is required.
Besides being a fun place to work, we also offer the following:
- $.25 cent/hr. increase for each consecutive year worked at our pool.
- , up to $100.00 swimsuit reimbursement.
- PLUS, full reimbursement for your certification/recertification (if you work to the end of the pool season at our pool).
