POOL PASSES AND SWIMMING LESSONS – you can now go to our website to sign up for pool passes and swimming lessons online. Go to our website, Residents, Pool for more information. The tentative opening date is June 3, 2024.
SIREN TESTING – May 4th is the first Saturday of the month so they will be testing the storm sirens. After the severe weather we’ve been having, let’s make sure these are working properly. Please call City Hall if the storm siren in your area is not operating properly.
Open Burning ends May 10th. Please burn only when the wind is calm and don’t burn wet debris. The next open burning is Oct 1st through Nov 30th.
Please mow your yard and do not blow your grass in the streets. During a rainstorm, the clippings flow with the water and clog storm drainage grates and that could lead to flooding and damage to your property and your neighbor’s property. Our code enforcement officer will be sending notices to owners/occupants whose yard needs to be mowed.
Join the Ministerial Alliance Community Auction, Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 5:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church 1204 13th St. They will have a variety of items from local businesses and individuals up for auction. Cookies, iced tea, coffee, and water will be provided as well.
Citywide Garage Sales – May 11, 2024 – Thank you to Melissa Deaver for organizing this year’s event. We appreciate your willingness to step up and help.
Big Garbage Day is coming Saturday, May 18, 2024.
The Dallas Center American Legion and Auxiliary.
- Poppy Day distribution will start on May 18, 2024, and continue until Memorial Day. The poppies that are distributed in Dallas Center were made by a veteran at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. The Dallas Center American Legion Auxiliary share in the amount of donations, and local funds are used for veterans and their families only.
- On Monday, May 27, 2024, The Dallas Center American Legion and Auxiliary will be hosting the Memorial Day service. It is held in Mound Park at 10:00. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the event. In case of inclement weather, it will be at the Middle School Gymnasium. Please plan to attend.
Roller Skating Rink – Opening night will be Friday, May 31, 2024. Watch future communications for more details. We are excited to see everyone at Mound Park!
City Boards & Commissions – We currently have vacancies on the following boards: Parks & Recreation Board has two vacancies, and the Tree Board has one vacancy. Please check our website for the “Application to Serve.” Return completed application to City Hall at cityhall@dallascenter.com .
Mosquito Control of Iowa will be providing coverage to the City of Dallas Center for your comfort and safety throughout the 2024 season. WE STILL NEED MORE LIFEGUARDS!!!…… for the 2024 season at the NEW Dallas Center Community Pool. $12.50/hr. Must be 15 years of age. American Red Cross certification for Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR is required.
Besides being a fun place to work, we also offer the following:
- PLUS, $.25 cent/hr. increase for each consecutive year worked at our pool.
- PLUS, up to $100.00 swimsuit reimbursement.
- PLUS, full reimbursement for your certification/recertification (if you work to the end of the pool season at our pool).
