Red Lion Solar Project (Completed)

October 10, 2023 - the solar panels have been placed at the locations below and the project has been completed.

August 31, 2023 - As of this date, all solar panels have been installed and are functioning properly.

June 13, 2023 - A final agreement has been reached with Red Lion Dallas Center Solar, LLC (Red Lion).  A lease agreement is prepared with Red Lion Dallas Center Solar, LLC (“Red Lion”) that grants Red Lion the rights to use and access the various City Premises identified in the Solar Power and Services Agreement.  The following areas will benefit from the energy provided by these solar panels:

  • Library, 1308 Walnut Street
  • Park Restroom, 1307 Walnut Street
  • Maintenance, 701 Walnut Street
  • City Hall, 1502 Walnut Street
  • Water Treatment Plant, 2281 240th Street
  • Well 7, 23520 Midland Trail
  • Well 9, 23500 Midland Trail
  • Well 10, 23500 Midland Trail
  • Well 11, 23765 Midland Trail
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2711 250th Street

March 8, 2023 - Red Lion received an award from Iowa Economic Development revolving loan fund and is now able to proceed with the solar panel project. The City will have Ahlers and Cooney review the contract. 

January 10, 2023 - Red Lion Renewables attended the City Council meeting to answer questions regarding the USDA grant process and the Letter of Intent.

In October 2022, the City of Dallas Center began working with Red Lion Renewables to research our options for solar energy.  In December, 2022 Red Lion Renewables reported and reviewed the options available to the City for solar power cost savings.  By using solar power, Red Lion estimates that the city could save $10,000 a year in energy costs.  Red Lion Renewables owns the panels and there would be no maintenance for the City, other than mowing.
